The Creason family assembles before the parade.

The Creason Family showed up in force to support Sierra and Shadow for their entry in the Parade of Rescue.

It will be one year on April 14th that the Dachshund Rescue of San Diego gave Shadow to Sierra.

Shadow gives Sierra a lick of encouragement.

Since then an incredible bond has developed between them. From the time he entered the front door Shadow established himself as a loving family member and devoted companion to Sierra.

Their relationship demonstrates the wonderful effects that unconditional love provided by a companion animal can have on the sick and the elderly.

Although Sierra has always had plenty of love and human companionship from her friends and family, and has had her share of soft and cuddly stuffed animals to hug, it was Shadow entering her life that has made the biggest difference.

According to her parents, over the past eleven months, since he came into her life, Sierra's numerous hospital visits have decreased and there has been a marked improvement in her general health.

Although she is always a happy and cheerful child. There is something special in her smile and laughter when her new best friend is near.
